Trevillett roofing slate

Quarried, sawn and split

Trevillett Cornish Slate is timeless, enhancing buildings both traditional and modern. It has been specified and approved on many prestigious contracts from private housing to listed buildings and churches.

Roofing slate is available from our Trevillett Quarry at Tintagel, North Cornwall.

Extracting from the Upper Delabole Slate, Upper Devonian Slate beds (as defined in 'Memoirs of the Geological Survey of Great Britain 1973'), Blue Grey block is quarried, diamond sawn and then hand split into natural riven roofing slates.

Available in traditional random widths to be laid in diminishing courses from 20" down to 12" or 11"-7" 'peggies' which can be wet or dry 'scantle' laid.

More contemporary sized slates from 20" x 10" 'Duchesses' down to 12" x 6" 'Doubles' are also produced.

Long life with no maintenance (provided fixtures and fittings are correct) make it an economic choice in relation to the life of the building.

Natural beauty

For lasting natural beauty, slate is still unsurpassed as a roofing material.

Resistance to weathering and pollution makes it an ideal roofing medium for contemporary conditions.

Cornish slate is considered to be amongst the most durable in the world and will maintain and add to its character and appearance throughout its very long life.

We pride ourselves on the encouragement of continued traditional roofing methods.
